What to wear, what to wear...

Clothing is an important part of your custom photography session.  Long gone are the days of "matchy-matchy" clothing and white shirts for everyone.  Add color, add accessories, be casual, be yourselves!!!  That's what this is all about!

There are many wonderful resources out there to help you and your family dress your best.  I recommend browsing around the websites I have listed below for ideas on color schemes and accessory ideas.  I also recommend layers to add texture, interest, and flexibility to your photo shoot.  Clothing with ruffling, ribbon, patterns and other textures to is encouraged.  It will add dimension and fun to your images.

I also encourage you to bring a couple of changes of clothing for children that are being photographed (unless it's a mini session...only one change of clothing is allowed due to time restraints).  We can change your child's clothing as many times as you'd like.  This is a great way to add variety to your shoot.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE adding accessories to photographs for adults and especially high school seniors and children.  Scarves, necklaces, hats, funky shoes, jackets, fun tights...they can all add a lot of interest and fun to your photos.

I realize that picking out clothing for a family shoot can be somewhat stressful. Here's my tip...try sticking with a couple of different colors for the entire family and use that as your baseline for the entire family.  Build on that and you'll look great!  Use my tips above for adding accessories and for adding more interest. Dark jeans are a nice staple for photo shoots.  Most colors will look great next to a dark pair of jeans.  Keep things unique and fun for each person being photographed...and steer clear of being too matchy.  You've got this!  If all else fails...lay out your clothes, e-mail/text me a picture, and we can go over it together. : )

Here are some store suggestions to help you get some ideas as well: (lots of beautiful homemade pieces)
